That Boutique-y Whisky Company Advent Calendar 2019

As I did last year when I was even newbier in whisky than I am now, I bought a Whisky advent calendar. Last year I bought the Premium Whisky Advent Calendar from Drinks by the Dram, and this year, I chose to buy That Boutique-y Whisky Company’s 2019 Advent Calendar 2019. And this time, I brought Ainulindalë aboard, as I had him buy one too, so that we can do our “double notes” reviews. Hmm I should trademark this.

Since we’re also newbies regarding writing a whisky blog (we’re definitively not my good friend Matt at The Dramble with his fantastically well written and documented articles), we won’t do full articles with lots of words and signs and even sometimes interesting things to say, and just present quickly the bottle the sample was taken from then immediately continue with our tasting notes.

But what’s that something-y with a funn-y name? That Boutique-y Whisky Company is an independent whisky bottler from the Atom Brands group, who also owns Master of Malt, Drinks by the Dram and other companies. They are a bit different from other independent bottlers through many ways: their bottles are only 50cl (not anyone likes this, I don’t really care), they have a fun and young marketing and communication, and their bottles have wonderful graphic-novel-style labels containing information (hints for the undisclosed whiskies for example) and puns.

As any classic advent calendar, 24 windows are pre-cut from the magnificent box, drawn with the same style as their labels, and each day from now to the 24th, Ainulindalë and I will open the window of the day and review it. That’s it for this post, each window will have its own quick notes post on More Drams Less Drama.

The drams behind the windows

  1. Bourbon #1 24yo batch 1
  2. Speyside #3 8yo batch 1
  3. New York Distilling Company 2yo batch 3
  4. Teaninich 11yo batch 2
  5. Blair Athol 21yo batch 7
  6. Coming soon…
